MECHANICAL  ENGINEERING

BUILDING THE FUTURE

Sometimes, the simplest mechanical innovation can result in phenomenal leap in productivity, reduction in cost or creating a new market, such as locomotives and the cotton gin.

Sometimes, much more complicated devices, like a robot or an industrial manufacturing facility, enable people to walk or produce millions of goods at very inexpensive costs.

Often, it is quite difficult to describe a mechanical invention or draft a set of claims that will describe and protect what advancement the inventor has achieved.

Finding the right wording, making sure alternative embodiments are covered, and ensuring that the description matches the claims and the drawings, requires thinking outside the box and attention to detail.

Our attorneys have worked in-house where products were actually developed, understand the interactions necessary between the inventors and outside counsel, and have the patience and attention to detail to handle mechanical innovations, from the most basic to the most advanced.

And often, the mechanics are part of an electro-mechanical system, and the integration of the two specialties requires a hard-to-find skill set, which our attorneys have been practicing and have had hands-on experience in for many years.
