Mark J. Sullivan has more than a decade of patent law experience and currently focuses on patent prosecution and client counseling, with an emphasis on matters involving chemical technologies. He oversees domestic and foreign patent portfolios, working with large companies, research institutions, and start-ups. He has authored and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications, as well as reexaminations and reissue applications. Mark regularly prepares opinions of counsel.
Mark enforces patents overseas for US clients, recently partnering with a team of foreign counsel to enforce a client’s patent in one of the largest chemical patent litigations in Asia. He also works with foreign counsel to invalidate competitors’ patents worldwide, including in China.
In addition to Patent Prosecution, Mark spent 15 years as an engineer, primarily in the chemical and defense industries. Mark has an M.S. in environmental engineering and a B.S. in chemical engineering, and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Virginia.
