Mr. Green represents clients in proceedings conducted in the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, both clients seeking patent protection as well as clients seeking to limit or invalidate patents asserted against them. Mr. Green also provides advice and counseling concerning patent enforcement both on behalf of patent owners as well as their competitors. He has represented clients ranging in size from 6 person start-ups to Fortune 100 companies.

Mr. Green has represented clients in computer technology for more than 40 years, from the Eniac (the world’s first electronic digital computer) to IBM’s Blue Gene, with work on PCs and similar technology in between. He has been protecting software with patents since the mid-1970s.

Mr. Green:

Successfully prosecuted the application describing the token ring protocol. That invention was the basis for the IEEE 802.5 Standard. Following the successful prosecution of the application, Mr. Green and his colleagues licensed the resulting patent to the industry.

Prepared and successfully prosecuted the application for Stormscope, the first airborne lightning mapping system. The Stormscope patent was litigated successfully against an infringer. The technology pioneered by that invention has been widely used in commercial, military, and private aviation and is still in use today.

Completed the prosecution of an application based on the Prodigy system that focused on applying advertising in computer networks. The resulting patent was later successfully applied to the use of advertising on the Internet.

Prepared and prosecuted the reexamination of the Y2K patent. Before reexamination, the patent had been used to threaten patent litigation against a wide variety of industries, essentially anyone who had prepared for the millennium. The reexamination was successful, resulting in the cancellation of all claims of the patent.

Mr. Green has also represented clients in satellite and cellular communications, including telephony applications, as well as POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service). His work in these areas spans the spectrum from selecting inventions to protect, to preparing and prosecuting patent applications, and litigating communication patents.

Mr. Green obtained his LLB from George Washington University Law School in 1966. He was Order of the Coif and a member of the Law Review Staff. He graduated with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from City College of New York in 1962.
